Men Who Dance takes the audience on an artistic journey that explores and affirms the role of men and how it played in the evolution of movement throughout history to the present. Within the past few years, the presence of men on the concert stage, theatre, commercial and video production has grown exponentially. Men are no longer just the “frame that supports the picture” but rather many times the center of the subject matter. Themes around men have become diverse and personal, showcasing not only their strengths but also their vulnerabilities.
The show takes the next step by presenting on stage exhilarating male variations, pas de deux’s, and group work created by both world-renowned and emerging choreographers. Dancers from the various companies join with other guest artists and performers in presenting a diverse and dynamic program intended to attract an intergenerational audience from all walks of life; those already supporting the arts, as well as new potential dance enthusiasts.
